Think about cooking not only as nourishment, but also (and maybe above all) as a series of tasks you are doing (yes, also known as a recipe…) with the aim of reaching a final objective (you got this one? congrats, the answer was: a meal). Although it may appear simplistic, research has shown that simples tasks as easy as slicing, mixing, chopping, cutting, grating, kneading, measuring, or planning can help you train your brain and develop your ability to achieve more important goals or tasks in a different context. In general, it is said that the best diet for the brain is the Mediterranean type of diet, with lots of fruits, vegetables, more fish than meat, olive oil more than dairy… Experts have shown that it works for Alzheimer. It really makes a difference to avoid a too negative evolution. That is why they think it also works to improve your memory.
Let’s recap! Carefully picking the right food helps you eat better, cook it helps you develop your overall capacity to achieve tasks, and certain types of products can help you increase your intelligence, or answer questions you’ve always asked yourselves, such as the traditional: “how to improve my memory?”, or even your concentration. Apart from physical health and mental capacities, it can also help you develop a state of mental well-being, which is essential to improve your efficiency at work.
Indeed, it has been acknowledged that cooking with others is a good way to release happy hormones in our brain (serotonin, melatonin, oxytocin, etc.) and literally feel better. In addition, sharing the fruits of your labor with your friends and family is also part of the process. As a conclusion, cooking is not only good for your body, but also really important for your mental health. Think twice the next time your go to the grocery store: fresh produce or ready-prepared dish? And who said cooking took time? Check out our quick recipes by clicking on the button right below!
If you are not already convinced, here is a last argument that may change your mind: the price! Indeed, big companies charge an average 30% extra for meals that you can cook on your own (more taste, less money!).

2. Different food for different effects sought 🤓
It may also depend on your personal objective(s). For instance, if you are willing to increase your overall level of intelligence, nutritionists would recommend you eat food with lots of vitamins. Such elements are usually found in colorful fruits and vegetables like Pumpkins, tomatoes, oranges, peppers, carrots, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries… Steam or wrap the vegetables, but do not boil them or they will lose their virtues. Dairy products, wholegrain cereals and vegetal oils are also highly recommended.
If you are more interested in increasing your ability to concentrate, chocolate will be your best friend (if it’s not already the case), as it helps your brain to develop with the needed amount of sugar (glucose). However, some specifics are to be mentioned: first, be aware of the quantities you eat (as usual!) as varying food is a good way to maintain health. Second, prefer 70% cacao dark chocolate over other types of chocolates, when possible. Tea is also a really good friend to help you focus more easily and longer on your personal tasks! For example, green tea and mate tea have anti-stress and anti-tiredness effects and stimulate the nervous system.
